Air Conditioner not working properly

Air conditioner is not cooling the room at all. It's just blowing cold air and making noise. I have checked the condenser, it seems to be fine. The compressor is also running well. Every time i turn on the AC unit, it makes a loud sound like its trying to start up but then stops after few seconds. Then again starts with same sound. When return off the AC unit, there is no problem in starting it again. But when we turn it back on, it does the same thing.

Some things to note:

1) There are no signs of any leaks or damage anywhere around the unit.

2) We have replaced the filter twice already.

3) The fan inside the unit works perfectly fine.

4) The thermostat is working fine.

5) The power supply is good.

6) The wires from the wall socket to the unit are connected correctly.

7) All the connections between the unit and the wall socket are tight.

8) The unit has been used for about 2 years without any problems.

9) The unit was installed by an electrician.

10) The unit was purchased new.

It is very frustrating as this happened suddenly one day. I don't know what else can be wrong. Please help me out. When we are at office, we turn the unit off and wait for some time before turning it on again. After that, if we turn it on again, it will work normally. If we leave it alone for more than 10 minutes, it won't start working.

There are different problems which may cause this issue. Some of them are listed below:

· Faulty electrical connection

· Faulty capacitor.

· Faulty relay.

· Faulty control board.

· Faulty motor.

· Faulty blower motor.

· Fault in the refrigerant system.

If you notice a loose wire or a broken wire, check whether the wire is touching other parts of the circuit. Also make sure that the wire is firmly attached to the terminal. Check whether the capacitor is faulty. Replace the capacitor if necessary. Check whether the relay is faulty. Replace the relay if necessary. Check whether the control board is faulty. Replace the control board if necessary. Check whether the motor is faulty. Replace the motor if necessary. Check whether the refrigerant system is faulty. Replace the refrigerant system if necessary. Check whether the blower motor is faulty. Replace it if necessary.

The first thing I would do is disconnect the unit from the power source. Turn the breaker OFF and remove the fuse/breaker. Let the unit sit for 30 minutes. This should allow the internal components to cool down. Once they are cooled, reconnect the unit to the power source and see if it runs. If it still doesn't run, replace the fuses/breakers. The second thing I would try is replacing the filter. You can buy filters online. Make sure that you get the correct size for your unit. The third thing I would try is checking the wiring. Check the continuity of each wire. If everything looks ok, then I would suggest changing the thermostat. It could be that the old thermostat is defective. When we are at home, we turn the unit on and let it run for 5 minutes. Then we shut it off and wait for another 5 minutes. If the unit does not start up after waiting for 15 minutes, then there might be something wrong with the unit itself. After doing all these things, please post back here with the results.
